Anfield side linked with multiple Milan transfers.
Liverpool are leading the chase to sign AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano.
Cassano, 28, could be set for a big money move to Anfield as Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is determined to add more firepower to his squad and make them genuine contenders for the title next season.
The Italian striker could struggle to command a regular first-team place at the San Siro next season as he battles with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexandre Pato and Robinho to secure a starting place.
Fiorentina have also been linked with Cassano but reports in Italy suggest that Liverpool are now the strong favourites to clinch his signature.
Italian giant’s Inter Milan are vying for the services of Liverpool’s Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles in possible £14m swoop.
Merieles, 28, eventually enjoyed a successful first season in the premier league after a slow start. Helping Dalglish’s men gain a credible Premiership spot after a troubled spell under Roy Hodgson.
Despite only being at Anfield for a year, Meireles was voted PFA fans player of the year. The creative hub of Liverpool’s midfield play during Gerrard’s considerable lay off now faces stiff competition for his place. With the signing of England prospect Jordan Henderson and the potential transfer of Charlie Adam from Blackpool, the former FC Porto player’s starting place is by no mean assured.

It’s all happening at Anfield now! Having signed Jordan Henderson and reportedly missed out on Blackburn Rovers defender Phil Jones, Kenny Dalglish is apparently closing on on AC Milan striker Antonio Cassano. The former Sampdoria man is known for being a bit of a nutcase but still has a lot to offer and after a stormy spell at Real Madrid the Italian international has got his career back on track.
The 28 year old fell out with his Sampdoria chairman and had his contract terminated by the Genoa club and was then signed for a small fee by AC Milan in January. During his time at the San Siro the cultured attacker has been a bit part player but played his part in helping Massimiliano Allegri’s side to a Serie A title.
Now he is apparently available for a fee of around £10m which is a fee that is well worth paying and would add more attacking options to the Liverpool squad. With Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll as first choice starters there is not much else in the way of alternatives, especially if Dirk Kuyt continues to ply his trade on the wing. David Ngog is set to join Sunderland by all accounts and Cassano can also play in the hole behind the strikers and at a push on the wings.
Raul Meireles has meanwhile been strongly linked with a move to Milan where Inter are said to be interested in the Portuguese international’s services. The former FC Porto man had a good season last term but appears to be available for transfer, according to this source anyway. Given that Henderson has been signed perhaps the feeling is that the England Under 21 international would be a logical replacement for the 28 year old, hence talk of a possible move to Italy.
