Emirates boss set to make bid for Nigerian international.
Arsenal have stepped up their pursuit of West Bromwich striker Peter Odemwingie.
Sportsmail exclusively revealed Arsene Wenger’s interest in the striker earlier this month.
And reports in Odemwingie’s native Nigeria claim the 29-year-old has been the subject of an official approach from the Gunners.
Odemwingie is out-of-contract at the end of next season but the Baggies are keen on tying him down to fresh terms.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been linked with a move for Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie for the last few months and apparently moves are afoot to have the deal completed in the next few days. The West Brom striker had a fantastic first season in the Premier League netting 15 goals from 29 starts. However it is worth noting that the former Lokomotiv Moscow man will turn 30 in a few weeks, which would normally rule him out of a long term contract under the Gunners’ boss’s usual rulings on ‘older’ players.
A lot is expected of Robin Van Persie and when the Dutch international is invariably out for large chunks of the campaign, which happens all to often, then others have to step up. Marouane Chamakh, who arrived for nothing last summer, started last term with a bang netting ten goals by late November. However the Moroccan then burnt out and didn’t manage another Premier League goal for the rest of the season.
Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Vela are apparently set to be offloaded after neither the Danish or Mexican international’s proved themselves worthy of regular first team duties, so therefore another attacking option is probably needed, will that option be in the form of Peter Odemwingie? It seems quite possible it might be.
