Old Trafford welcomes Villa Park star.
Manchester United have signed Aston Villa winger Ashley Young for £15million on a five-year deal.
The 25-year-old had been widely expected to sign for the Red Devils after rejecting new contracts to stay at Villa Park.
The England international wants to play Champions League football and will now have the opportunity to do so at United.
Young, who rejected a move to Liverpool to join Sir Alex Ferguson’s side, underwent a medical yesterday and will join up with the champions for pre-season training.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce it has reached agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of Ashley Young,” a statement on the club’s website read.
“The player passed a medical in Manchester this week and has agreed a five-year contract.”
He becomes Ferguson’s second signing of the summer after the capture of England Under-21 international Phil Jones from Blackburn for £16.5million.
But the Red Devil boss was not so lucky in his attempt to sign Lens defender Raphael Varane, who opted for a £10million move to Real Madrid instead of Manchester.
