Old Trafford winger wants to stay at club.
Manchester United winger Nani is happy for the increased competition, following the signing of Ashley Young, but warned the new boy to expect a fight for his starting place.
The Red Devils wrapped up a five-year deal for Young last week and the arrival of the England international has sparked speculation over Nani’s future at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Inter Milan but he insists he is happy at United and feels new additions will boost the Red Devils’ quest for silverware next term.
The Portugal international admits it was frustrating watching the Champions League final from the bench but is looking forward to meeting his new team mate.
“Of course I have to welcome everyone they sign, I think Man United is a fantastic club,” Nani said.
“When they bring in new players, they know if it is good for the team or not, and this (Young signing) has to help them.
“It is good for the team, we want more (players) to help us to win trophies.
“I’ve been there (at United) when Cristiano was there, Cristiano was one of the best players in the world. At that moment (I had no) worries about him (taking my place).
“It was boring because you want to play, everyone wants to play,” Nani added.
“The finals are for playing but the manager makes the decision and he knows who is better for the team and I have to respect that.”
