Arsene Wenger hopes to bring in talented attack minded duo.
Arsene Wenger is determined to bring in quality additions this summer to help prove to his Arsenal’s top performers, and the club’s supporters, that both he and Arsenal Football Club do have the ambition and funds to fight for major honours. The embattled French Gunners boss will make big money offers for Lille playmaker Eden Hazard and Valencia attacker Juan Mata.
Wenger has pursued Belgian international Hazard for the best part of two seasons and is just one of many of Europe’s elite looking to snap up the Lille youngster who helped his Ligue 1 side secure their first domestic title in over 50 years last term.
Lille are reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €25m (£22m) for their 20 year old prized asset and the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus are all said to be interested but Wenger’s famed insistence on trusting to youth and his reputation for moulding superstars out of young up and coming talents may well lead Eden Hazard to feel a move to the Emirates Stadium could serve his long term career the most good.
The Arsenal manager intends to make an offer for Valencia’s Spanish international Juan Mata who he had monitored at the recent European Under 21 Championships. The pint sized attacker impressed a great deal as he helped his country to the title in Denmark.
Having lost the likes of David Villa and David Silva last summer, La Liga side Valencia will try to not lose another top notch performer but the Mestalla side still has some financial problems and could accept significant offers for the speedy youngster, especially if the former Real Madrid youth team graduate pushes for an exit.
Mata can play either up front as an orthodox striker or out on the wing and his direct running style may be a tool that Wenger is keen on adopting to help his breed of free flowing football.
Wenger has already lost Gael Clichy to Man City and hopes to avoid losing stars Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri who have both been heavily linked with exits away from the club.
