Some advice for Arsene Wenger from an Emirates Stadium season ticket holder.
If you find yourself embroiled in a conversation with an Arsenal fan on the subject of transfer policy (as a Gooner I wouldn’t recommend it) all, well almost all, supporters of the North London club (me included) will scream at the top of our lungs that we need to start purchasing established talent.
Arsene Wenger usually has a stock response to such calls and that usually revolves around not wanting to bankrupt the club or spend crazily like those Eastlands chaps do. What he fails to take into account is that there is a middle ground. By dealing in extremes the Arsenal manager manages to avoid the debate.
As an Arsenal seasons ticket holder I am not asking for the club to spend outside there means or to go ballistic and ruin the general prudent spending ethos of the club. I just want to see us purchase a relatively experienced top quality player, perhaps even two, is that really too much to ask?
Here are fiveplayers I think we realistically could afford to purchase and who I believe would be up for a move to the club. I am clearly not suggesting we make a move for all ten, these are just some top notch performers that we as a Champions League level club need to be making offers for.
Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)
Long term Arsenal target, or so we are led to believe, and not a first choice starter at the Bernabeu. Quality striker on his day, maybe the allure of regular first team football would tempt the former Lyon man?
