Old Trafford boss ready to make firm offer for Emirates Stadium star.
Man United are ready to follow up their interest in Arsenal attacker Samir Nasri with a firm bid for the French international. Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly willing to offer as much as £25m to secure the 24 year old, a substantial fee for a player with just 12 months left to run on their contract.
Ferguson is hoping to tempt Arsene Wenger into selling to a rival club and may also offer a squad player into the bargain in order to win the race to sign the Arsenal contract rebel.
The Arsenal boss has reasserted his intention to keep Nasri but the former Marseille man has refused to extend his contract despite being offered a lucrative new deal and is due to travel to the Malaysia with the Gunners squad for their Asian tour this weekend.
Wenger has already seen Gael Clichy leave for Man City and is once again struggling to keep Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona’s grasp this summer and the Emirates Stadium manager is also struggling to complete deals to bring in new additions to help boost the Arsenal squad as they look to end their six season silverware drought.
The North London side are set to sign Lille striker Gervinho but have thus far failed to complete any signings this summer and Wenger would sorely miss the hugely influential services of Samir Nasri who was one of the few consistent performers of last term.
The talented flair player has his most prolific season in front of goal, netting 15 in all competitions as well as being a hugely important part of the Wenger’s overall attacking plans but it seems that Nasri has his heart set on leaving Arsenal after three seasons at the club and whilst the Gunners boss does not want to sell to a rival club he may feel compelled to take the best offer on the table to avoid losing the player for nothing next summer.
Ferguson has already spent over £50m this summer bringing in Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea from Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid respectively.
The Man United boss will hope that his friendly relationship with Arsene Wenger could help in pushing through the deal and the club have previously been involved player sales between their respective clubs when Mikel Silvestre made a move from Old Trafford.
