Player wants to stay at Anfield.
Liverpool midfielder Christian Poulsen will not join FC Copenhagen this summer and wants to remain at Anfield, according to his agent Jorn Bonnesen.
The 31-year-old has been told he is not wanted by the club after failing to impress in his debut season after being signed by Roy Hodgson 12 months ago.
The Denmark international still has two-years left on his contract but manager Kenny Dalglish does not rate him and wants to sell him to free up wages for other players.
The arrival of Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam has added to the competition in the squad but Poulsen wants to fight for his place.
He has travelled to Asia with the rest of the Liverpool squad for their pre-season tour, and was on target during the Reds’ 4-3 friendly win over Guangdong Sunray Cave on Wednesday.
Danish giants Copenhagen were rumoured to be chasing his signature but Bonnesen has dismissed the talk and insists Poulsen will remain on Merseyside.
“No, Christian Poulsen is not on his way to FC Copenhagen and he has not spoken to them,” he told Onside.dk.
“Christian Poulsen’s future is at Liverpool.”
