Anfield outfit snap up Roma keeper.
Liverpool have signed Brazilian goalkeeper Alexander Doni from Roma as back-up for first-choice Pepe Reina.
The 31-year-old joins the Reds after passing a medical, but Liverpool did not disclose financial details of the deal or the length of his contract.
Doni has 10 caps for Brazil and played 179 times over six seasons for Roma.
Liverpool Director of Football Damien Comolli said: “We are getting a very experienced goalkeeper who is used to handling the pressure of big games.”
Comolli continued: “He is suited to English football. He is big and good in the air and his distribution is quick as well.
“When you play for Roma for years and years, the pressure at that club in that city is tremendous, so the fact he can handle that shows he can take anything.
“He also had a very good end of last season with Roma, so we are very pleased.”

Anfield boss Kenny Dalglish and director of football Damien Comolli have been very busy this summer looking to strengthen the Liverpool squad in preparation for a season which the Merseyside club will look to break back into the top four after two seasons out of the Champions League placings and this latest signing helps to add more strength in depth to the club’s defence.
31 year old Brazilian international Doni will keep Liverpool number one Pepe Reina on his toes and the former Roma man is a very experienced campaigner who clearly feels he has what it takes to unseat the Spaniard if he fails to continue his consistent performances for the club.
Having notched up over 170 appearances for the Stadio Olimpico side, and a plethora of runners-ups finishes in Serie A, the former Corinthians star was keen on a new challenge and will be a huge improvement on previous back up keeper, Aussie Brad Jones who will surely be on his way out. The former Middlesbrough man had a horrific loan spell at Derby County last term, during which he conceded 16 goals in 7 games!
Liverpool will be looking to offload some of their squad to help balance the books and having sold Paul Konchesky to Leicester City will probably accept decent bids for Milan Jovanovic (who is set to move to Anderlecht on a fee transfer), Christian Poulsen, Joe Cole and David N’Gog.
