Etihad Stadium boss keen to continue summer spending with Emirates Stadium star capture.
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini has revealed they are hoping to secure a double swoop for Sergio Aguero and Samir Nasri by the end of the month.
Mancini has indentified Atletico Madrid ace Aguero as an ideal replacement for unsettled star Carlos Tevez and he is also keen on luring Nasri away from Arsenal.
Aguero is looking for a new club after revealing his intention to leave Atletico this summer with the player planning to make a decision on his future after the Copa America.
The 23-year-old has admitted he would be happy to join another Spanish club or move to England with Real Madrid also in the race for his signature.
“At the moment I am waiting because if we lose Carlos, Aguero is a player that can play for Manchester City because he is young, because he is a good player like Carlos, he can score a lot of goals and can play with Mario (Balotelli), with Edin (Dzeko),” Mancini told Sky Sports News.
Asked if City were likely to make a bid for Aguero, Mancini said: “It is probably yes. I think in this moment we only have to wait.”
Nasri is also a top target for Mancini with the Frenchman stalling over a new contract at Arsenal.
“Samir is under contract with Arsenal. Also for Samir it depends on many things,” added Mancini.
Asked if an offer has been made for Nasri, Mancini continued: “I don’t know in this moment, I don’t know the situation but for Nasri it is difficult.
“I hope that we can buy because we need other players and I hope that this player can arrive before the end of the month.”

It seems that Man City are moving in and preparing to make big waves in the summer transfer market having seen the likes of Liverpool, Sunderland and Man United spend big. The fact that Argentine goal machine Carlos Tevez has made it clear he wants to leave would appear to leave Roberto Mancini needing to fill a pretty big void but the fact that the Italian has Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko means that that need is not as pressing as it could be.
It is an indication of the broken relationship between the Etihad Stadium club and Emmanuel Adebayor, that the Togo international does not even enter into the club’s thinking.
Having brought in two defenders, Gael Clichy from Arsenal and Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade, Mancini appears to want to freshen up the attacking third of his squad and his interest in Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero appears to be gathering pace after the La Liga sharp-shooter made it clear a move to the Premier League would interest him.
However a Man City move for Samir Nasri would appear to be dead in the water since Arsene Wenger made it clear that he would rather allow the French international to run out his current deal and leave for nothing in the summer than see the former Marseille man leave the club this summer, especially if that exit was to another Premier League rival.
That said, it seems that the two sides have a decent relationship given that three Gunners players have left for Man City in the past two seasons with Emmanuel Adebayor and Kolo Toure making that move in the summer of 2009 and now Clichy doing likewise earlier this month.
It does seem that Mancini will look to trim some of his massive squad this summer and the likes of the aforementioned Adebayor, Craig Bellamy, Roque Santa Cruz, Shaun Wright-Phillip and Jo may be on their way out and Shay Given is said to be close to securing a move to Aston Villa.
