Stamford Bridge club agree deal with shot-stopper.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is undergoing a medical at Chelsea ahead of his £8million switch from Racing Genk, according to manager Andre Villas-Boas.
The 19-year-old shot-stopper will be the new boss’ first signing since taking the Stamford Bridge hot-seat last month.
Courtois was voted Genk’s player of the year last season as they won the national title, and was also named Belgian goalkeeper of the year.
He made his league debut for Genk in April 2009, aged just 16.
“At this moment he is having a medical but has not yet agreed personal terms,” Villas-Boas told the club’s website.
He is not expected to join up with the rest of the Blues squad until after they return from their pre-season tour to the Far East.
Chelsea begin with a match against a Malaysia XI in Kuala Lumpur before going to Bangkok to face the Thailand All Stars.
They wrap up their tour in Hong Kong with two matches in the Barclays Asia Trophy.
