Emirates club need more height and steel at the back.
It is clear where Arsenal’s major problem lies – defence.
The lack of steel and height along the Arsenal back four have seen them concede soft goals, not just last season, but for a six trophy-less years.
Without doubt, Thomas Vermaelen was a big miss for the Gunners in the last campaign and his return should help.
But even boss Arsene Wenger has admitted his team need a tall defender and need to improve at defending set-pieces.
Rumours of certain deals have yet to prove correct but it does seem the Frebchman is trying to address the problem.
We give his exceptional scouting network a hand and suggest 10 possible signings that will improve the Arsenal defence.
Christopher Samba – Blackburn Rovers
A defender who loves defending. The 27-year-old has decent pace and is an immensely physical and no-nonsense centre-back. The Congo international is also experienced in the Premier League and his experience, leadership and battling qualities could be important for the Gunners. Arsenal conceded a lot of goals from set-pieces and this is where Samba can help improve the Gunners by winning the aerial battles. Wenger has been put off by Blackburn’s £15million valuation for a player who has four-years left on his contract.
