Stadio Olimpico star could soon be at Stamford Bridge or the Etihad Stadium.
Roma midfielder Deniele de Rossi has stalled on signing a new contract putting Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City on alert to his availability.
The 27-year-old has only 12 months left on his current deal and if he refuses to sign a new contract the Serie A club will cash in on him this summer.
The Italy international is rated at £25million but because he can leave for nothing next summer, he could be available for as little as £15million.
Chelsea are in need of a holding midfielder following the injury to Michael Essien and De Rossi would be the ideal like-for-like replacement.
West Ham talisman Scott Parker is also on their radar but any deal for him depends on the Hammers wanting a permanent deal or a loan move.
Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Parker but could see De Rossi as a more long-term possibility, as Arsene Wenger would like more experience in his midfield.
City also want to strengthen in midfield with boss Roberto Mancini a long-term admirer, according to the Daily Mirror.
But new Roma boss Luis Enrique insists he wants to keep the 27-year-old.
“He is very important for my plans and it would be impossible to find a replacement for him in the current market,” he said.
