Stadio Olimpico hero unlikely to be heading to Old Trafford or the Emirates.
Roma’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has told a host of Premier League clubs that midfielder Daniele de Rossi is not for sale.
Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been attracted to the 28-year-old following his refusal to sign a new contract with the Serie A giants.
The Italy international has only 12 months of his current deal to run, meaning he will either be sold for a discount price this summer or nothing next year.
De Rossi is valued at around £25million but due his contract situation could be bought for around £15million
But Sabatini has revealed he would prefer to lose him on a free next summer than right now.
“We are in talks over the renewal (of De Rossi’s contract) and will not begin any process with other clubs,” he said. “He is not for sale.
“I’d prefer to have long negotiations over the contract renewal and risk losing him in a year than let him go today.
“The club will do everything possible to keep hold of De Rossi.
“Daniele is not subject to negotiations, as he has never and will never be on the market.”
