Anfield playmaker heading back to Serie A.
Liverpool midfielder Alberto Aquilani has agreed terms with Fiorentina to move back to Serie A, according to his agent Franco Zavaglia.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Reds in a five-year deal for £17million from Roma two years ago, has been edging towards an Anfield exit for the last 12 months.
The Italy international failed to settle in Merseyside making only 28 appearances because of injury and spent last season on-loan at Juventus.
The Old Lady refused to pay Liverpool’s valuation for the playmaker and Aquilani reported for pre-season training at Melwood.
Fiorentina have now agreed to take him on a season-long loan with Zavaglia revealing the deal only hinges on the player agreeing personal terms with the Italian club.
“The agreement between Fiorentina and Alberto has not yet been reached,” Zavaglia told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“If we talk of an agreement, that was only reached between the two clubs, because Fiorentina did not come to any decision with us.”
Meanwhile Liverpool are also looking to offload midfielders Christian Poulsen, Milan Jovanovic and Joe Cole before they can re-enter the transfer market.
