Old Trafford side looking to seal deal to snap up long term target.
Manchester United plan one last push for Wesley Sneijder
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has raised the prospect of a renewed attempt to sign Inter Milan’s Wesley Sneijder by admitting Sir Alex Ferguson aims to sign a ‘world-class’ player before next month’s transfer deadline.
United manager Ferguson, whose team face the MLS All-Stars in New Jersey on Wednesday, has already spent £48.3 million on Phil Jones, Ashley Young and David de Gea this summer.
The Dutch midfielder is understood to be keen to move to United, however, and talks between associated parties took place earlier this month. Gill has now admitted United remain determined to make a stellar addition to their squad before Aug 31.
“We’ve got a great squad and to get into that squad you need to be a world-class player,” Gill said.
“There’s no point, if you can’t get the players you want, in buying someone for the sake of buying someone. But we are looking at one more player to bring in.

By all accounts Man United will look to meet Inter Milan’s £35m asking price and will offer the 27 year old £200k a week making the total price of a four year deal to bring the former Real Madrid man to Old Trafford to a whopping £76m.
Old Trafford chief executive David Gill has made it clear that the Premier League side has not done spending and that they will be looking to bring in one more ‘marquee’ signing and it seems that only stumbling block is the player himself as Inter Milan seem more than happy to cash in on the talented playmaker.
Sir Alex is looking to add creativity to the centre of a midfield that could be described as a little brittle. The likes of Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Michael Carrick provide a lot but do not provide a goal threat. Sneijder appears happy at Inter Milan but may well be tempted by a big money move to the Premier League, especially as the Nerazzurri gave up their Serie A crown last season, bringing to an end of five straight title success.
Man United have lost a number of their veterans over the past few months, Edwin van der Sar, David de Gea and Paul Scholes all call it a day and John O’Shea and Wes Brown both left for Sunderland. Ferguson is looking to freshen things up at the club and even though his side proved successful in domestic terms they still failed to overcome Barcelona in the Champions League and the Old Trafford boss is looking for that extra quality to be able to challenge on all fronts.
Sneijder appears to be the man on the club’s radar. Moves to bring in Luka Modric and Samir Nasri have failed leaving the way open for another move to capture the Dutch international who is at the peak of his powers.
