Etihad Stadium side agree fee for Argentine striker.
Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has arrived in Manchester to complete his move to Manchester City after they agreed a fee with Atletico Madrid.
The 23-year-old frontman is reported to have agreed terms on a five-year deal, with the fee thought to be about £38m.
Aguero Tweeted: “Just arrived in Manchester to finalise details of deal with City. Everything is going well.”
City decided to press on with the move despite the recent collapse of Carlos Tevez’s proposed switch to Corinthians.
Atletico Madrid boss Gregorio Manzano Manzano told Spanish radio station Cope on Tuesday: “It does look like this long-running issue will be resolved in the coming hours. It is at an end.”.

The fee that Man City are reportedly set to pay Atletico Madrid, eclipses their previous record purchase, which was £32.5m, the fee the Etihad Stadium side paid Real Madrid for Robinho. The La Liga side were apparently also approached by Juventus and their Bernabeu neighbours but neither side were able, or willing, to meet the asking price.
Aguero would be the perfect replacement for want-away striker Carlos Tevez but perhaps the arrival of his international team-mate may make the former Man United and West Ham man re-consider his desire to leave the club?
The Atletico Madrid hotshot has been a huge success in La Liga, notching up 95 goals over the past four seasons, a total that is all the more impressive when you consider that the Vicente Calderon side have never been challenging for the title that he has scored so many despite having fellow striker Diego Forlan also weighing in with more than his fair share as well.
The 23 year old Argentine international has Diego Maradona as a father-in-law having married the legend’s daughter Giannina. He is a predatory finisher who is also known for his likeness for a dive so that may be one facet of his game that the former Independiente man would do well to flush out before he gets himself a reputation with fans and officials alike.
