Emirates want Nou Camp agreement sorted asap.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants the Barcelona-Cesc Fabregas saga over as soon as possible by setting an August 5 deadline.
The 24-year-old will not play in this weekend’s Emirates Cup due to hamstring injury but has been able to train as normal in the last week.
This all adds to the speculation the Spain international could be close to agreeing a £40million switch to the Nou Camp.
Wenger does not want the situation to drag into the new season and has set the deadline to either speed up the process or call the deal off, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Gunners boss sent an email to Barcelona president Sandro Rossell outlining his position so he can put the final touches to his preparations for the new season.
The Frenchman is already in the process of replacing Fabregas with a £15million agreement for Valencia winger Juan Mata.
The deal for the 23-year-old is a major coup for the north Londoners with him being one of the most sought-after talents in Europe and is keen to join Arsenal following talks between the clubs.
Meanwhile, winger Theo Walcott has been given the all-clear after an MRI scan on his nagging ankle injury.
He does not need an operation, just a few days of rehabilitation.
