Stamford Bridge over-crowded squad may scupper deal for teenage hot-shot.
Anderlecht striker Romelu Lukaku has warned Chelsea he will only sign for them if he will be part of their first-team plans.
The 18-year-old has attracted a lot of interest all over Europe including from Manchester City and Arsenal, but it is believed the Blues were leading the race.
Manager Andre-Villas Boas was putting the finishing touches to an £18million bid for the Belgium international but the latest development might make the boss think again.
Chelsea have already snapped up his compatriot Thibaut Courtois this summer but immediately loaned the goalkeeper to Atletico Madrid.
But long-term target Lukaku insists he would not consider following the same path as Courtois if his move from Anderlecht is finalised.
Lukaku also claimed he did not say he would only move to Chelsea as he wants to go to a club that will encourage his growth.
“That was misinterpreted,” he told Belgian TV show Stadium. “I want to go to a club where I can develop further. It’s not that I just want to be transferred to Chelsea.
“I am patient. Basically, I will just stay at Anderlecht, I am good here and am not thinking of a transfer.
“When I leave, it will not to be lent out as with Thibaut Courtois.”
