Parc des Princes welcomes new prince.
Paris St Germain have signed midfielder Javier Pastore for £37.5million from Palermo.
The 22-year-old made the announcement 0n his blog, confiming he will sign a five-year deal once personal terms are confirmed and he has undergone a medical.
“I’m very excited to begin this new stage (of my career),” Pastore said. “They explained the project and I was immediately seduced by the challenge.
“PSG is a great club with a great history. I want the team to win everything. I’ll give my best in every match. I’m very happy they have faith in me.”
PSG, which has huge backing from majority shareholder Qatar Sports Investments, already signed several other players for the new season.
Blaise Matuidi, Kevin Gameiro and Jean Christophe Bahebeck will join Pastore at the club.
Chelsea and Manchester United were also interested in signing the playmaker but have lost out in the race to PSG’s millions.
The Ligue 1 giants have not won the league title since since 1994 but following the big investment have been installed as favourites.
The transfer fee echoes Manchester City’s agreement to sign Sergio Aguero from Atletico Madrid and announces PSG as a major force in world football.
Other targets are set to be on the radar including Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, Arsenal’s Andrey Arshavin and Chelsea defender Alex.
The French club also poached Leonardo from Inter Milan to become their sporting director to assist in transfer deals and help the club into the Champions League.
