St James’ Park player moves to the Liberty Stadium.
Swansea City have confirmed they have signed Newcastle United winger Wayne Routledge on a three-year contract.
The Premier League new boys agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old and will now undergo a medical before putting pen to paper.
Newcastle United sold Routledge for an undisclosed fee after he became surplus to requirements.
He spent most of last season on-loan at QPR, helping their push for the promotion to the Premier League.
Routledge will be joined in Wales by another player from the north-east in Middlesbrough’s Leroy Lita, who agreed a £1.75million move last week.
Should there be no complications, both players will come into contention for Wednesday’s friendly against Celtic at the Liberty Stadium.
The pair continue manager Brendan Rodgers’ summer recruitment drive following the arrivals of Danny Graham, Steven Caulker and Jose Moreira.
“Swansea City is pleased to confirm that personal terms with Newcastle winger Wayne Routledge have been agreed this afternoon,” a statement on Swansea’s website read.
“The former England Under-21 international will be joined by Middlesbrough striker, Leroy Lita, who is also due to have a medical before completing his transfer.”
