Key Emirates player will be back for the start of the season.
Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere is confident he will be ready for the start of the season after tests showed he has just inflamed his ankle.
The 19-year-old picked up up the injury in the first seven minutes of the pre-season friendly against New York Red Bulls in the Emirates Cup.
Scans showed nothing serious but he is still a doubt for England’s friendly with Holland next week.
The injury could still rule Wilshere out of the Gunners’ final pre-season friendly at Benfica on Saturday.
Manager Arsene Wenger said Wilshere would be unavailable for England’s August 10 match against Holland should he fail to recover in time to play in Portugal.
The scan result confirms the initial prognosis of the Gunners medical staff, who informed Wenger he could expect to be without the 19-year-old for a week.
Wilshere confirmed on his Twitter account last night: “Ankle scan just showed some inflammation. Hopefully will settle down in a few days.”
Meanwhile it is still unclear whether Theo Walcott will recover from his ankle problem in time for the new season.
