White Hart Lane youngster set for starring role.
Tottenham Hotspur are facing up to an injury crisis on the eve of their Europa League first-leg match with Hearts.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp could be without up to six midfielders for the game with the Scottish side.
Sandro, Wilson Palacios (both knee) Steven Pienaar, Luka Modric (both groin) and Jermaine Jenas (Achilles) are all out, while Tom Huddlestone has an ankle problem.
This means 21-year-old Jake Livermore is almost certain to start just his second game for Tottenham.
Ledley King and Alan Hutton are sidelined with knee injuries and William Gallas is also out with a calf problem.
Spurs’ preparations for the tie have been disrupted by the Edinburgh Festival.
There are no hotels available in the city and the team are having to stay 50 miles away in St Andrews.
“It’s been a problem with our preparation, but we’ll get around it,” first-team coach Joe Jordan said.
“We would have preferred to stay in Edinburgh, but we’re a long way away from it. We’re up at St Andrews.
“We would have liked to have been closer on the day of the game so our journey there would have been a lot shorter.”
Provisional squad: Gomes, Friedel, Cudicini, Bale, Kaboul, Bassong, Dawson, Corluka, Walker, Assou-Ekotto, Huddlestone, Lennon, Van der Vaart, Kranjcar, Rose, Livermore, Pavlyuchenko, Defoe, Crouch.
