Emirates club miss out on teenager.
Arsenal have failed in their efforts to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze, as he prefers to stay in Germany.
The Gunners reportedly made a bid for the talented 19-year-old, who has three years remaining on his contract, on Monday, which was rejected.
The Germany international is not ready to leave the Bundesliga quite yet, according to his agent Volker Struth.
Gotze, who was described by Franz Beckenbauer as ”an instinctive footballer – just like Messi,” has declared his desire to continue his development with Dortmund.
“Mario will stay at Dortmund, for sure, the next two years,” Struth told Goal. “There is no chance of him going to another club this window
“This is because he is so young and it is too early in his career for him.
“The club, the player and his family, we are all of one mind that it is better for him to stay there because he is happy at Dortmund.
“When there is a big club who want Mario, Dortmund have to tell the club that there is no chance. In any case, they will not sell him.
“In two or three years, who knows? I don’t know what will happen then.”
