Britannia Stadium wants Emirates star after missing out on Stamford Bridge youngster.
Stoke City will make a £9million offer for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner after failing in bids for Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea and Tottenham’s Peter Crouch.
The Potters boss Tony Pulis tried to sign Lukaku, 18, on a season-long loan today but the move is not allowed under Premier League rules.
It forbids a player going to another top-flight side during the same transfer window that he joined his parent club.
Lukaku only completed his move from Anderlecht to Chelsea two weeks ago for a fee that could rise to £20million and he made his Blues debut in Saturday’s 3-1 win over Norwich.
But the teenager faces a fight for a starting spot at Stamford Bridge, with Fernando Torres, Didier Drogba, Nicolas Anelka, Daniel Sturridge and Salomon Kalou among the other striking options.
Pulis only went for Lukaku as his attempt to sign Crouch from Spurs failed, with the England international preferring to fight for his place in north London.
The Welshman will now attempt to bring Bendtner to the Britannia with reports in Denmark suggesting a switch is close to happening.
Meanwhile, Stoke are on the verge of signing Crouch’s Tottenham team-mate Wilson Palacios for a reported £6million.
