Emirates club go head-to-head with Stamford Bridge for Allianz Arena star.
Arsenal are set to make a £20million plus either Andrey Arshavin or Nicklas Bendtner for Bayern Munich winger Frank Ribery.
The Gunners will go head-to head with Chelsea who, according to reports, submitted a £30million bid yesterday to clinch a deadline day deal.
The 28-year-old is a target for the Blues who have grown frustrated in their efforts to get Luka Modric from Tottenham.
Now Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to enter the race in order to clinch the marquee signings the fans are after.
The Frenchman tried to acquire Kaka from Real Madrid but the Brazilian preferred to fight for his place in Spain.
Wenger feels a £20million bid plus Arshavin or Bendtner could twist Bayern’s arm as it is too late to find a replacement.
But Arsenal may have to move fast with Bendtner currently at Stoke City undergoing a medical.
It appears it will be a busy day for Wenger with deals for defenders Andre Santos and Per Mertesacker set to be completed.
Midfield is also in need of strengthening with Yann M’Vila, Yoann Gourcuff and Marvin Martin, as well as Ribery, all on the Gunners radar.
