Emirates, Stadium of Light and Anfield have all been busy, but who made the best deals?
25. Owen Hargreaves: Unattached to Man City – Free
The blue half of Manchester might just have got one over on the red half with this one. All the medical experts say he has recovered from his knee injuries and, if this proves the case, will do more than a job for Roberto Mancini.
24. Demba Ba: West Ham United to Newcastle United – Free
Not the big-name striker signing the Geordies were looking for, but expect him to trouble most defences with his powerful running. Needs to be kept fit but will score goals.
23. Nicklas Bendtner: Arsenal to Sunderland – Loan
Much maligned by Arsenal fans, but Steve Bruce knows how to get the best from the Dane. They worked together at Birmingham, and if he is consistently played through the middle (rather than on the flank as he was at the Emirates), he will come good.
22. Davide Santon: Inter Milan to Newcastle United – £5.6m
A great replacement for Jose Enrique. Was compared to Paolo Maldini by Marcello Lippi but suffered from injury and the form of Christian Chivu. Will have a point to prove.
21. Brad Friedel: Aston Villa to Tottenham Hotspur – Free
Having suffered problems with the erratic Heurelho Gomes, Spurs have brought in the consistently reliable, if unspectacular, veteran American for little outlay and he has already established himself as first choice.
