North African country has reasons to celebrate both on and off the field of play.
The success of the Libyan national team during what has clearly been a traumatic time, should be roundly applauded. They sit on the cusp of qualification for the 2012 African Cup of Nations that will take place in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon and it’s worth noting that the North African country has only managed to qualify for that tournament once in the past 30 years but currently sits second in their group after remaining unbeaten in five matches.
Adidas has responded by releasing a new kit for the Libyan national team, what is a bit confusing to us at COS is whether that new kit is the one that the side sported in their weekend win over Mozambique, a stylish number which includes the newly reclaimed flag, that reigned over the country before Colonel Gaddafi overthrew King Idris, as well as a map of the country, or the one shirt below that is doing the rounds on the interweb. Either way it’s a sign of a bright new future that the country deserves to enjoy after more than four decades of tyranny.
We for one will be supporting the Libyan side as they take on Zambia in the crucial final qualifier next month.
