Anfield custodian wants to stick around.
PEPE REINA says he could stay at Liverpool for another FIVE years.
Reina (below) was on Manchester United’s list of possible replacements for Edwin van der Sar as Fernando Torres’ departure from Anfield made him rethink his future.
But the Spanish keeper made his mind up to stay as the club flourishes under Kenny Dalglish and can now see himself completing a decade at the club.
He said: “The intention is to continue here.
“When I came here I never thought I would stay for seven years.
“Now the plan is to make it 10 or 12. Everyone is different but I have been lucky that my wife is very happy here and my children as well.
“I’m a Scouser now. The affection of the people here is tremendous and I really appreciate it.”

This is of course great news for Liverpool fans as Pepe Reina is perhaps one of the most consistent Premier League keepers of his generation and whilst there was much speculation that the Spaniard was on his way during the Roy Hodgson era it seems that all is well in the Anfield camp and that the former Barcelona youth team player has no intention of leaving Merseyside.
Clearly whilst international caps have become hard to come by due to the presence of Iker Casillas, the Liverpool man has never really been tested by anyone on the club’s payroll but perhaps Doni’s arrival will keep the 29 year old on his toes. After ousting Jerzy Dudek from the number one spot Reina has not looked back.
He has amassed 313 appearances, kept 146 clean sheets and has not missed a Premier League match for over four years.
