Luka Modric has missed his chance across London.
Chelsea are no longer interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric, according to Blues manager Andre Villas Boas.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp claimed Chelsea had an offer of £40m rejected by chairman Daniel Levy shortly before the summer transfer window shut, and Villas Boas has no intention of upping his offer, having signed Raul Meireles from Liverpool instead.
When asked if Chelsea would make a renewed offer for Modric in January, Villas Boas was clear.
“No I don’t think so. The market is closed and I won’t speculate what happens in January,” said the Portuguese manager in his press conference.
Villas Boas also revealed that Chelsea will soldier on with Ashley Cole and Ryan Bertrand as their left back options, having failed to agree a deal with FC Porto for Alvaro Pereira.
“We were very far from meeting Porto’s demands for Alvaro. I am happy with Ashley and Ryan.”
