Stamford Bridge striker not having the greatest week.
Chelsea forward Fernando Torres is not attracting the most positive attention at present.
His struggles on the pitch have been well documented, but the hitman may be in trouble for matters off it.
He gave an interview he gave with the official website of La Liga in which he reportedly called Chelsea stars “old” and “slow.”
However, in Torres’ defence, there may be an error in the translation, with some believing he is actually offering an opinion on the playing style of the team rather than its staff.
“We are going in-depth to regain the tape of that interview,” said Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas when quizzed on the article.
“We’ll see if things play exactly as they are in that interview.”
Upon being asked if Torres would be fined, Villas Boas was reluctant to speculate.
“We’d just talk. Just talk. To share opinion. If it was unauthorised, I’d fine him. Of course. Anyhow, it’s one player’s perspective.
“I don’t think it’s a perspective that the manager shares. I don’t have to share my players’ ideas sometimes.
“I think we have competence, apart from the ‘age problem’, which for me is not a problem. Maybe we just have to speak about that situation and he has to see our view as well.”
