Paris St Germain sporting director Leonardo has identified David Beckham as his next major signing.
The two men worked together while at AC Milan, and the Brazilian is keen to be reunited with the England superstar.
The 36-year-old in the final year of his Major League Soccer contract with the LA Galaxy and speculation is rife as to what his next move will be.
Beckham has been linked with a moves to Premier League clubs QPR, West Ham and Tottenham.
PSG are the financial powerhouses of French football having been taken over by the Qatar Sports Investments this summer.
It means the club would certainly have the means to bring Beckham to Paris, while Leonardo’s history with the player could also be a factor.
Beckham’s status in world football is also attractive to a the French club who desperate to raise their profile across the globe.
“The door is open,” Leonardo told BBC Sport. “He is more than a football player – he’s a brand, a pop star. I would always consider him.
“He respects the rules, listens to you and wants the best for the team. That’s why for me he is a big example. I worked with him and that’s why I talk about his name.
“I coached him at AC Milan and we created a good relationship. He is more than a football player, but when you see him every day he trains and plays like a kid.
“He is someone that I really appreciate and admire so much – his values and everything he has done in football.”
