Could Anfield and Stamford Bridge veteran midfielders move to Russia on a final big payday?
There are a number of constant laws in football.
1. Shortly after any commentator predicts anything, the opposite will happen.
2. Jamie Redknapp will use “literally” as an accessory word in every sentence.
3. Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard cannot play together in central midfield.
Except they may have to.
According to a preposterous report from Italian television network Sport Mediaset, Russian team Anzhi Makhachkala are preparing bids for both England midfielders – and will offer each a paltry [sarcasm] €15m per annum.
Despite recent injury problems, Liverpool are extremely unlikely to sell their captain and talisman, and while Frank Lampard is certainly in the twilight of his career, it is incredibly difficult to imagine him taking Anzhi up on their offer.
Sport Mediaset claim that having boosted their team with Yuri Zhirkov and Samuel Eto’o already, they have earmarked Lampard and Gerrard amongst the final pieces of their ludicrously expensive eleven piece puzzle.
Don’t they know the laws?
