Stamford Bridge hero says team lacks entertainment.
Chelsea legend Frank Leboeuf agrees with striker Fernando Torres that the current team is too slow.
The ex-defender claims there is little entertainment when he goes to watch the Blues play but he feels manager Andre Villas-Boas is changing that.
Two weeks ago, Torres came under attack for comments that he put on his own website criticising his new team-mates for being too old and slow.
While Leboeuf believes Chelsea’s makeover should be at the expense of the veterans, he does have sympathy for the Spaniard’s feelings.
“It’s always the same problem with Chelsea when I watch them,” he told The Times. “There’s no doubt they’re going to get results, but the entertainment is not there.
“When I watch the game it’s like there is a lack of inspiration from the players.
“And when Fernando Torres said the pace is a little bit slow, I understand what he means.
“When (Daniel) Sturridge and (Juan) Mata have the ball, the game goes a little bit quicker. (But) it’s like a machine.
“You’re going to break the opponent at a certain point but entertainment-wise when you watch the game you say, ‘Wow, can we have a bit of acceleration?’
“Chelsea’s a big club, a fantastic club. It’s just that the way they play, I would like to see more craziness. But they get results . . . so I don’t want to be critical.
“But you need experienced people. Chelsea have everything to win the title because they have a spine with lots of experience.”
