Stamford Bridge boss keen on Goodison Park starlet.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas wants Everton wonderkid Ross Barkley – and is ready to offer a staggering £20million for the teenage sensation.
Barkley has only played a handful of games for David Moyes’ senior side, but the Portuguese coach has already decided he is the man for him and plans to tie up a deal for the January transfer window.
The young Merseysider – who won’t be 18 until December – is rated one of the best young midfielders around, and Chelsea chief Villas-Boas has ordered his scouts to find him new talent as he builds for the future.
The Stamford Bridge side made an informal approach for Barkley in the summer window, but Moyes asked them to stay away.

It seems that Andre Villas-Boas is very keen to re-shape things at Stamford Bridge, with a view to building a new generation of talent that can ably take over from the Blues old guard. With that in mind the Portuguese manager brought in Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku and Oriel Romeu and has also taken a liking for England Under 21 striker Daniel Sturridge, so his interest in Ross Barkley is no surprise.
The young Toffees midfielder has seamlessly drafted into Premier League action this season and at 17 has already shown great maturity and Everton boss David Moyes well have his work cut out keeping the local born teenager from being snapped up.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is also said to be scouting the youngster and clearly the Old Trafford boss knows all about signing Everton youngsters and reportedly still hopes to capture Jack Rodwell.
Villas-Boas has inherited a first team that has a number of players in, around or over 30 years of age and the former FC Porto man knows that changes need to be made in order to bed in young talent and has seen the likes of Ramires and David Luiz impress since their moves to West London last season.
Whilst the backbone of John Terry, Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba may still have some mileage it is clear that if Chelsea are to keep up with side pushing to nab major honours then they need to freshen things up, that said a bid of £20m may be a bit over the top for a player who has made just two Premier League starts but perhaps by January Barkley will have proved himself further.
