Old Trafford boss keen on Villarreal man.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United is reportedly tracking Villareal’s defensive midfielder Bruno Soriano, according to “The Sun”.
Soriano is 27 years old and he is a “home baked” player for Villareal. He made his debut for the Villareal’s first team in 2006 and managed to appear in 123 games in the league for the Spaniards since then. He’s not really what you’d call a goal scorer, with no goals scored in over 180 played games, but he is very important to the team for the defensive part of the job.
The footballer is rated at around £10 million, and if Ferguson is serious about bringing him to Old Trafford, success will be almost certain.
Soriano has recently broken into the Spanish national team set-up and is a consistent performer for the Yellow Submarine and appears to be a player Sir Alex Ferguson believes could add more steel to his midfield.
Known simply as ‘Bruno’ the 27 year old has been a regular in the El Madrigal side’s midfield for a number of seasons and is at the peak of his powers at present and would surely be hugely tempted by a move to Man United and if a bid is made by the Premier League side then Juan Carlos Garrido may struggle to keep hold of the player.
Whilst Man United have a number of central midfield options they do lack an out and out defensive midfielder. The likes of Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Michael Carrick can of course do an excellent job in the centre of the park but are not known for their tackling abilities.
Given that Ferguson also allowed Owen Hargreaves to leave the club then a move to bring in Soriano makes sense but one would wonder if the player is of a high enough standard to make it into the first team plans at Old Trafford.
