The players Arsene Wenger should bring to the Emirates Stadium at the earliest opportunity.
Jan Vertonghen (Ajax)
Defensively Arsenal are still a shamble and whilst this is in part down to a lengthy injury list it is also because last summer’s centre back signings of Laurent Koscielny and Sebastien Squillaci have simply not adapted to life in the Premier League. Per Mertesacker needs time to get used to the speed of the Premier League but the addition of another defender would come in handy and who better than Thomas Vermaelen’s former Ajax team-mate and countryman Jan Vertonghen.
The solid defender can also play as a defensive midfielder which may come in handy when the next injury crisis hits the midfield. The 24 year old Ajax captain would surely jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League and would not cost the earth.
Probably best waiting until next summer as he will be cup tied from Champions League action. The powerfully built determined centre back has already racked up almost 200 Ajax appearances and has the potential to make it at the Emirates Stadium.
