Valencia make offer for Old Trafford striker.
Valencia are lining up a January bid for Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Daily Star says Los Che will make a renewed £12m bid for Manchester United flop Berbatov in January.
The Spanish giants made an offer for Berbatov during the last transfer window, which was rejected by Sir Alex Ferguson.
Given that spiraling nature of the transfer market it seems that an offer of £12m for a player who finished joint top scorer in the Premier League last term is cheeky in the extreme. Even if you factor in the Bulgarian’s age and his lack of first team action such a fee is still some way below what Dimitar Berbatov is worth.
The 30 year old former Tottenham man racked up a hugely impressive 21 goals from 24 top tier starts but has found himself restricted to just 1 Premier League starting spot thus far this season. The form shown by Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck has left Berbatov wondering what the future holds.
Things seem to be coming to a head between Ferugson and his Man United striker when he opted to not pick Dimitar Berbatov in his 16 man squad for the Champions League Final with Barcelona in May and surely at his age the Old Trafford man will be wanting to be playing regularly rather than warming the bench, not least because last term was his most prolific to date.
Valencia have started the La Liga season well and sit just one point from top spot but have managed just nine goals from 6 matches and rely very heavily on Spanish international Roberto Soldado for firepower.
Ferguson would like to keep Berbatov to provide further strength in depth but if he fails to get a look in then the chance of a new challenge elsewhere may become more and more tempting come January.
