Emirates club needs to start rebuilding now.
Arsenal could lose strikers Robin van Persie and Park Chu-Young in the next two years leaving manager Arsene Wenger’s rebuilding plans in disarray.
The Gunners boss has seen stars Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri leave the club this summer and has been rocked by the news his attack is about to be weakened further.
Van Persie, 28, has a contract until 2013 but has refused to discuss a new deal until the summer, opening the possibility he will be sold at the end of the season.
The club captain has full faith in the hierarchy but does not know where his future lies.
“I have every trust in the things we are doing within the club,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “There is only a fine line between winning and losing.
“I am not going to make any statements about my future. Not now, not for a while.
“I’ve been at Arsenal eight years and that is quite extraordinary these days. Which is why I treasure this. What my future will bring, nobody knows.
“I can understand people are curious, but I am just dedicated to everything at Arsenal right now.
“My future is a private matter and, when at some point there could be some news, people will hear it.”
Park, 26, only joined Arsenal in August but revealed he will have to leave north London in two years to complete national service in South Korea.
“It isn’t really possible to be excused,” he said in the Daily Star Sunday. “That can’t and won’t happen, which is another reason I chose to come here.
“I’ll have to leave Europe in two years’ time and I thought this would be an incredible place to finish.
“My national service is inevitable and there is no point in thinking anything else. I’ll still be playing games, but for an army club.
“I think it’ll be difficult to return to Europe after that, although if something interesting comes up, you never know.”
At present that would only leave Marouane Chamakh as the only recognised striker at the club meaning Wenger would have to go back into the transfer market.
Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain are both on his radar but would mean braking the club’s transfer record to get them.
