AC Milan line up bid for Man United transfer target Paulo Henrique Ganso
Manchester United face competition for Paulo Henrique Ganso’s signature, after it emerged AC Milan are lining up a January transfer window bid for the Brazil midfielder.
United are believed to be monitoring the 21-year-old’s progress at Santos, with a view to adding him to the exciting young squad Sir Alex Ferguson is building.

However, the Red Devils face two major obstacles in their pursuit of Ganso.
The first is price, as the player has a £40million buyout clause in his contract and Santos have made it clear they will only consider offers worth more than half of that figure.
United would also have to persuade Ganso that his future lies in England, rather than Italy.
AC Milan have made no secret of their desire to land one of the rising stars of South American football and are ready to open the bidding with a £21million offer in January, reports Gazzetta dello Sport.

Manchester United have reportedly been tracking Santos youngster Ganso for quite some time and are readying a move to beat off interest from Serie A title holders AC Milan. Sir Alex Ferguson has a history of nabbing up and coming Brazilian talent from the source and currently has the likes of Anderson, Fabio and Rafael in his first team squad.

Ganso is arguably one of the hottest young prospects outside Europe but his emergence has been slightly obscured by the media attention that his club and national team-mate Neymar receives. The rangy 21 year old midfielder has an eye for goal and is already a regular in the senior national team set-up under Mano Menenez.

Santos will more than likely cash in on one or both their prized assets with Neymar said to be nearing a deal to move to Real Madrid. It is inevitable that young South American talent makes its way to Europe and even though there is something of a resurgence in Brazil, with many veterans returning, Ganso seems destined to leave.

£21m is a fair price in today’s market and the question is where would the goalscoring midfielder opt to move to. Indeed if one would imagine that having three fellow Brazilians in your squad would help in Man United’s favour it is worth noting that Massimiliano Allegri also has three of Ganso’s national team buddies in the former of Alexandre Pato, Thiago Silva and Robinho.

Clearly Man United are going along nicely at present but Sir Alex Ferguson is clearly looking to bring in the best young talent to help populate his squad and build for the long term. Over the past 18 months the likes of Chris Smalling, Javier Hernandez, David de Gea and Phil Jones have been brought in and Ganso would be seen as a player in the same mould, a player who has a bright future but is more than able to do a job in the here and now.
