Nou Camp boss wants Emirates Stadium and Stamford Bridge stars.
Barcelona have put Ashley Cole at the top of their transfer hit-list.
Coach Pep Guardiola’s priority is a left-back and Chelsea’s Cole fits the bill – if Barca can get him for around £12million.
Cole, 30, is Guardiola’s first choice, but now he must convince Barca president Sandro Rosell to make a move.
The European champions are long-term admirers of Tottenham’s Welsh winger Gareth Bale – but his sky-high price tag has left them believing Cole is a better option.
England star Cole was a target for Real Madrid last summer and was interested then in moving to Spain. But Chelsea held firm and refused to sell him.
Now Barcelona are ready to test their resolve again in the summer.
The Spaniards also want a keeper, and Guardiola is an admirer of Arsenal’s Wojciech Szczesny.

As rumours go, this one may actually have an element of truth to it. Barcelona’s defence is very solid but it is worth noting that keeper Victor Valdes has little in the way of a challenge to his first team spot. Veteran Jose Manuel Pinto is perhaps more known for his occasional run-ins with Real Madrid players whilst on the bench than actual playing time and at 35 is clearly nearing the end of his career.
Therefore the possibility of bringing in young pole Wojciech Szczesny makes sense, especially as the Gunners keeper has been showing maturity beyond his years and is now the undisputed number one keeper at the Emirates Stadium. Clearly recent problems at the North London club may lead to the 21 year old being tempted by a possible move to the Catalan club.
Similarly at left back there may be an opening for Ashley Cole if indeed Pep Guardiola opts to make a move for the Chelsea and England man. Eric Abidal is the current first choice in that position but at 32 is clearly not a long term solution, the club has Brazilian Adriano on occasion but the 26 year old may not be seen as a regular.
Obviously Ashley Cole at 30 is no spring chicken either but arguably the former Arsenal man has been in his best form over the past two years and seems keen to consider a new challenge, if you believe what the media report on that matter that is.
Arsenal are loathed to deal with Barcelona again following their incessant pursuit of Cesc Fabregas but Arsene Wenger, and indeed any manager, would worry if Europe’s best club came calling.
Andre Villas-Boas may feel that losing Ashley Cole may not be the end of the world as he looks to bring more youth to the first team picture, maybe such a move would help push youngster Ryan Bertand to the fore?
