Anfield boss keen on young defender.
Liverpool are ready to firm up their interest in Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna.
The Granata expect Liverpool to bid for their star defender in January and have learned a €16 million offer is being drawn up.
Ogbonna remarked last week: “Liverpool? A dream club, I love the Premier League and one day maybe I’ll play there.”
There has been much speculation in recent weeks about Liverpool’s interest in Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna and it appears the Serie B side are positive a bid from Anfield is on the cards. The powerfully built centre back is still involved in the Italian national team set-up even though he is currently plying his trade in the second tier.
Kenny Dalglish may feel he needs to beef up his defensive options given recent injury worries over Daniel Agger and Martin Skrtel and the inconsistent form shown by Jamie Carragher this season. The Liverpool boss is also linked with a move to send youngster Danny Wilson on loan to Blackpool in order to let the former Rangers man get some competitive football under his belt.
The Merseyside club purchased Uruguayan youngster Sebastian Coates in the summer to help build a solid central defensive base for the future.
Ogbonna has been a regular at Torino over the past three seasons and a number of Serie A sides have taken an interest and Liverpool may have to act swiftly and therefore it’s no surprise that a January bid has been mentioned.
