AC Milan are interested in Manchester City skipper Vincent Kompany.
The Belgium international has established himself as one of Europe’s best young centre-halves and Italian sources say his progress has alerted the attention of Milan.
Real Madrid are also being mentioned as suitors, with coach Jose Mourinho needing to find a long-term successor to veteran Ricardo Carvalho.
Kompany is waiting to open new contract talks with City, where it has been mooted he will be offered new terms to bring him closer to the club’s biggest earners.

Vincent Kompany has been an absolute rock at the heart of the Man City defence this season and is now the club’s captain having taken Carlos Tevez’s armband and the Belgian has not looked back.
The 25 year old former Anderlecht and Hamburg man is a pillar of strength in the City back line and was a virtual ever present last term and is now a pivotal part of the club’s push for major honours. Given that the Etihad Stadium side have no financial worries and will not therefore be swayed by a large bid, the only way such a move would be on the cards is if the player himself were interested.
Whilst Real Madrid and AC Milan are indeed European giants Kompany has progressed in leaps and bounds over the past three and a bit seasons and is unlikely to be thinking about leaving the club any time soon. However such interest could only help him in his pursuit of an improved deal.
