Anfield side target White Hart Lane squad player.
Liverpool are ready to swoop for Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone.
Anfield director of football Damien Comolli – who took Huddlestone from Derby to Tottenham in 2005 – believes he can tempt the 24-year-old away from London now.
Huddlestone is out until December following surgery to his right ankle.
When fit, he will find Luka Modric, Scott Parker and Sandro all in front of him.

There may well be a case for Liverpool requiring added steel in their midfield as currently the only out and out defensive midfielder available to Kenny Dalglish is Lucas, with Jay Spearing able to offer a fairly similar outlet.
Liverpool brought in a number of midfield signings over the summer but the likes of Charlie Adam and Jordan Henderson arguably are more attack minded individuals.
Tom Huddlestone isn’t a conventional defensive midfielder and is more of a box to box player but his sheer physical presence could be very useful to the Merseyside club and the England man does of course possess a mean long range strike and does have an eye for goal.
Harry Redknapp will struggle to fit the 24 year old into his plans now that Scott Parker is at the club, and doing a sterling job. The North London club are riding high at present and may well opt to sell the former Derby County man if the right bid comes in.
Huddlestone has had an up and down time of it since his move to White Hart Lane in 2005, notching up 171 appearances and scoring 14 goals in the process.
