Bernabeu club finally get their man.
Real Madrid have clinched the £53million signature of Santos forward Neymar, who will move to the Bernabeu after the London 2012 Olympics next summer.
The 19-year-old is the most sought after starlet in the world after impressing in the Copa Liberatodores and for the Brazil national team.
The world’s greatest ever footballer, Pele, recently said Neymar has the potential to rival Barcelona star Lionel Messi as one of football’s most talented players.
Chelsea were favourites to sign the teenager last January but Neymar rejected a move to Stamford Bridge as he was happy in Brazil.
But he is now ready for a move away from his homeland, with his agent saying a move to Spain would be more beneficial than a move to England.
“Neymar will be a Real Madrid player in July, but he is not going there any earlier,” a source told ESPN.
The winger will sign a contract worth £250,000-a-week, while image rights, commercial agreements and the transfer fee could see the deal total £150million.
The switch to Madrid will make Neymar one of the world’s highest paid footballers and put him in the same wage bracket as his soon-to-be new team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo.
