Loftus Road boss plans White Hart Lane swoop.
QPR are monitoring Jermain Defoe’s position at Tottenham.
Manager Neil Warnock is short of a striker who can find the goals to keep his team in the top flight and has earmarked the England forward for a January transfer bid of around £8million.
Warnock believes the 29-year-old has one big move in him and is hoping he can persuade Defoe that his future lies at Loftus Road.

QPR may well need more striking options having netted just eight goals in ten Premier League matches. Neil Warnock had previously been linked with Tottenham striker Roman Pavlyuchenko and was apparently hot on the heels of Peter Crouch before he moved to Stoke City and the Super Hoops boss will hope that it will be third time lucky with a move for Jermain Defoe.
The 29 year old has netted five times already this season but in recent weeks the England man has been consigned to the bench as Harry Redknapp has decided to play Emmanuel Adebayor up front on his own, and to good effect. The North London has a number of attacking midfield options that support the Togo international and therefore it isn’t necessary to play with two up front.
However a move to Loftus Road may not appeal to Defoe who could feel he can aim higher and if he remains out of the first team until January then perhaps a move elsewhere is on the cards, not least as the striker will be looking to cement his place in Fabio Capello’s England plans for the Euro 2012 finals.
QPR currently have a number of striking options but thus far the likes of Heidar Helguson, Jay Bothroyd, DJ Campbell, Jamie Mackie and Rob Hulse have managed just four goals between them this season.
