Bernabeu boss keen on Emirates Stadium striker.
Real Madrid will make an offer of €30m (£25.8m) for Arsenal striker Robin Van Persie as Jose Mourinho looks to bring in further attacking options to boost his Bernabeu attack.
Though the La Liga giants have scored a hatful of goals this term Mourinho is still looking to bring in another striker as he only has two recognised strikers in his Real Madrid squad, Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain, and the Portuguese boss is a long term admirer of the Dutch international and believes he can persuade the 28 year old to leave Arsenal in the summer.
Van Persie is currently stalling on new contract talks and at the end of the season will have just one year left on his current deal which has led some at the North London club to be concerned that another big name player could leave the Gunners. Cesc Fabregas, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri all left the Emirates Stadium in the summer and the fear is that another season without tangible success may leave the former Feyenoord man considering his options.
Robin Van Persie is in his eighth season at Arsenal and as yet has managed just one FA Cup success in that period and is now in the best form of his career, netting 35 goals in his last 49 appearances, the kind of form that has drawn the attention of many of Europe’s elite.
Van Persie was handed the Arsenal captaincy following the exit of Fabregas and there are many who believe that decision was partly to reward the player’s loyalty but if Wenger fails to lead the club to a trophy success, or at the very least a top four finish and Champions League qualification, then there is a very real chance the striker may be tempted by a move to Real Madrid.
