Old Trafford boss keen on White Hart Lane youngster.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is reportedly monitoring the progress of Tottenham midfielder Sandro with a view to a possible summer move to sign the Brazilian youngster.
The 22 year old former Internacional man impressed greatly during the White Hart Lane side’s Champions League run last term but thus far this season has made just one Premier League start this season as Harry Redknapp opts to use new signing Scott Parker as his regular first choice defensive midfield option.
Sir Alex Ferguson was linked with interest in Sandro prior to his move to Tottenham and now the Scot is considering a move to land the youngster as he attempts to add more youthful additions to his squad as he builds the next generation of Old Trafford talents.
Having brought in the likes of Javier Hernandez, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and David de Gea to help Ferguson ease into the transitional period that has inevitably followed the retirement of a number of his old guard. Sandro is already a regular in the Brazilian national team set-up and is very much part of Redknapp’s long term plans but if interest from Man United results in a bid then it may be tough for the North London club to keep the battling midfielder from being tempted to leave Tottenham.
The fact that the Premier League champions have a number of Sandro’s Brazilian compatriots, Fabio, Rafael and Anderson, may also help in Man United’s approach for the powerfully built midfielder.
Indeed a move to persuade Sandro to leave Tottenham would have even more chance of success if the club fails to break back into the top four, a worry that may well extend to a number of the club’s top performers who very much reveled in the spotlight in Champions League action last term.
Rafael Van der Vaart, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric have all been heavily linked with moves away from the club last summer but Redknapp managed to prevent any exits but knows that this season is a crucial one for the club.
