Emirates Stadium boss keen on La Liga star.
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Valencia midfielder Ever Banega as Arsene Wenger looks to beef up his Gunners squad.
The Argentine international has been in good form for his La Liga side before sidelined with a minor knee injury consigned him to the sidelines for the past couple of weeks. The 23 year old Rosario born battler is considered something of a ‘complete’ midfielder in the sense that he has the attributes to fill a number of roles.
Ever Banega has been a regular in the Mestalla first team for the past two and a half years and has the talent to combine the abilities of a defensive midfielder and those of a more offensive minded playmaker and is therefore regularly linked with interest from Europe’s elite.
A graduate of the Boca Juniors youth team Banega is now a regular in the Argentine national team set-up and is now being scouted by Wenger’s European network with a view to a potential January bid.
Wenger is a fan of adaptable players who have good control and the ability to think fast and Banega certainly ticks those boxes and after almost four years at Valencia he may well be tempted by a move to the North London club.
There is growing speculation that the Gunners boss is looking for players to help protect his more creative young talents like Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey and the tenacious Argentine may be a player who can help in that regard whilst also effectively link midfield and attack.
Perhaps even more significantly Ever Banega is not a big name and is unlikely to break the bank and is in many ways the type of understated signing that Wenger is known for getting the most out of.
