Midfield battler with bags of experience on Emirates Stadium radar.
Arsenal are apparently considering a move to sign Roma contract rebel Daniele De Rossi in January according to Italian reports.
The experienced Italian international is in his eleventh season at the Stadio Olimpico but could be looking to leave the club after thus far refusing to sign a new contract with his current deal set to end next summer leading many prospective suitors preparing January bids for the 28 year old.
Roma will not want to lose De Rossi but are mindful that the local born midfielder could leave for nothing in the summer and therefore must consider decent offers for his services when the transfer window re-opens in the new year.
Arsene Wenger has been linked with a number of midfielders as he reportedly looks to bring in tough tackling defensive midfielders to give his Gunners side more steel and a player of De Rossi’s class and experience would be ideal to play alongside the club’s youthful talents.
The Arsenal boss believes he needs gritty determined performers to protect his more creative midfielders including youngsters Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey who get dealt their fair share of bruising challenges. With just over six months left on his Roma contract Wenger will be hopeful he can lure De Rossi on the cheap.
De Rossi has racked up over 350 appearances for the Giallorossi and has 69 international caps to his name and has the kind of top tier experience that could fit alongside the club’s youthful base.
